Built by someone who has been through it.
Cashh was born in Kingston, Jamaica, and came to London at six years old to be with his mother. He grew up in Peckham, and by his twenties he was one of the most talked-about rappers in the country.
In 2014 the Home Office deported him. He was put on a plane to Kingston in handcuffs, to a country he had left at six, with nowhere to go and nobody there he knew.
“They’re saying even though I came to the UK age 6 I have no right to be here.”
He spent five years in Jamaica. He fought his case, and in 2019 he came home. He made a record about it called Return of the Immigrant.
He had lived in South London for fourteen years when he was removed. The paperwork, not the life he had built, decided it.
